Train called LIFE

At the beginning of this month, my husband of 2 years (!) and I started moving into a house.  Our oldest puppy turned 4.5 yesterday (Adopted at age 1). Our youngest puppy is 3 today (Adopted at age 4 months).  Tomorrow, my brother becomes a husband, a head of household, and the leader of his own family.  My husband and I are getting dangerously close to 30 years old.

I guess this train called LIFE means business - charging full speed, right on down the tracks.  I don't think you can bail, so I guess I'll just sit down, buckle up, and try not to need a sleeper car.  I wonder where the train is going?  I hope they're serving breakfast...I'm hungry.

Bus Stop

Soooooooooo....our house is an apparent school bus stop.  Ask me how excited I am about kids trampling our yard, throwing down Skittles wrappers, and climbing our trees....I dare you.

House Adventures

Day 1 was pretty uneventful - just cleaning, fixing, etc.

Day 2 we were rudely approached in our yard by a probable slum lord wanting to see the house, talk to our landlord, and wanting to know how long our lease is for.

Day 3 my mom came up and we knocked out a bunch of work, including picking up the walnuts so we can mow.  It also brought to light a 4-year old secret that doesn't have to be hidden now. ;-)  We also tried to stay our first night over, but the lack of pillows and dog food made us retreat back to Mounds for the night.

Day 4 was our first night to sleep in the house and I don't know that it was fully successful. We didn't do a lot to the house this day, but we kind of got to rest a little.

Day 5 was today. It was good to shave off the drive time and to have so many things accessible to us throughout the day. However, when we came home for "lunch," there was a mostly german shepherd running loose and was very friendly. A few minutes later we spotted a pit-looking dog that seemed to know the first dog. We spent a long time trying to figure out what to do w the dogs & even considered keeping them. We fed and watered them in the backyard while we called around to shelters. Finally, we decided to let them go and deal with them if they were here when we got back. About 5-10 minutes after we leave to take Jon to work, we get a call from landlord (a neighbor, too) saying that a lady called out 2 names and the dogs went running for her car. It would have been really awkward if we had kept them in our backyard like originally planned...haha.

It seems that the fun has only just begun...

Please sllllllloowwww dowwwwwnnnnnnnnnnnn, brain

My mind is racing.  My body is having trouble keeping up.  I have so many thoughts, desires, ideas, feelings, etc. going on & I just hope to catch a few thoughts as they go by.

I felt tired at about 4 today, so I laid down at 5 and jolted awake a few times thinking I was at work or other strange things like that.  Then, I got a call at 7 that really woke me up and here I am now at 9:30.

I am now thinking about all things house-related (of course).  Can we put our 300+ DVDs on the shelves by the fireplace?  Maybe we can put our trophies and awards on some of those shelves.  Where are we going to put the dogs' cages when we're gone for the day?  Even though I told mom to sell the ugly dinette set, should we use it again so we will at least have one?  Same thing with the couches?

I organized much of our stuff here today so we could grab it and go and, wow, do we have a lot of stuff.  I don't know how this process is going to work, to be honest.  I think we're gonna have to get a few boxes at a time and haul them in shoebox at a time.

I realized the other day that I have moved 12 times already and this makes 13.  Granted, 8 of those were into/out of dorms, so it wasn't as big of a move.  I kind of like to move.  Well, pack.  I like to organize and find missing treasures (like I found the sewing kit today that I forgot I even had...).  I would have liked a slower move, but it almost seems like that doesn't exist.  It would be nice to go through things before they leave the old house so you're not moving junk.

I simply have lots of questions and no way to answer them as of yet.  But, they will answer themselves in due time.  Until then, I hope my brain doesn't explode.

House!

We decided to move forward with it and rent it for now.  The little house is growing on me and I'm sure it will continue to as we put our own touches on it.  It looks like we intend on moving in at the beginning of October.  You know, next weekend...*Gulp*  I'm excited, scared, nervous, doubting, and confident all at the same time.  Don't worry, you'll be hearing more from us about this.  Let's do it!
