...and onto Weddingworld! Jon and I met on site with the owners of the Tulsa Little Theatre. I am more in love with this little place than ever before! It needs help, but it's just something I can get excited about helping. The front lobby is PER-FECT, including a receptionist desk over to the right, where a guest book can sit and then some obligatory pictures of Jon and I.
Jon and I are currently in a battle over dressing rooms, though. There is an official dressing room upstairs behind the stage that is perfectly spacious and "decorated" (there are about 8 dressing mirrors, vanity lights, and a couch in there, to name a few...) for the bridal dressing room, but the downside is that the only way to get to the back of the auditorium from there is, well, a trip outside or a walk through the auditorium. What if it's raining? I don't know. The dressing room also has a very low, low, did-I-mention-low?, ceiling to it...which I'm wondering if all of Jon's men and Jon could handle for an hour.
Moving on to the other possible dressing rooms, though...there is a concession room which actually looks out into the theatre (with curtains to pull, though, don't worry) which is the next roomiest of possible rooms. No seats or mirrors, though. The other room is a sort of conference room, complete with a large glass table in the middle of the room. I asked about moving it and I think it could only be moved to a corner of the room, though, which kinda makes for an awkward dressing room. By the way, these rooms have 10-ft or more high ceilings.
Anyway, other problems to overcome: The auditorium floor is bare concrete that is not stained nor painted...nor all one color. The stage needs a new paint job. The walls have painted over water damage, so they look kinda rough. The sound system is subpar, I'm told (I have no idea...), and the lighting will need to be added to, I am also told, so that no one looks disgusting in pictures. You techically have to go through a side door to get up on the stage, but I kinda like that, so I'm going to call that a positive.
Oh yes, and then the reception problem....there isn't another wide open space to have guests sit for a reception, so I'm halfway thinking of just having some tables behind the curtain onstage for the party and families to sit, and everyone else just sit back down in their "movie theater" seats and eat the dessert and drink their drink. I don't think I want a full dinner (Sorry, everyone!), nor do I want to add the extra $1000+ on top of the already growing bill.Positives: The look is PERFECT in my head. Everything from the sea foam green doors you enter, down to the blue and green original seats. I have picture ideas where a camera is looking through one of the holes near the entryway onto Jon and me, making a circle frame around us. There is a huge outdoor balcony (like 20 x 20ft!) (with seafoam green railing, of course!) that has such an empowering feel to it, that would make adorable pictures with the entire party as well. There is a massive projector screen acting as the last curtain on the stage and projector to show a slideshow on. The owners are so nice, they are willing to work with us in every way possible.
Well, I'm starting to get distracted now, by a movie, but there are more positives and I just keep getting a thousand and one new ideas about the place! I go now!
